First truce violation: new attacks on Gaza city, Khan Yunis

Despite the agreement to extend the humanitarian truce in the Gaza Strip for two additional days, the west bank witnessed on Tuesday the first Israeli violations of this temporary ceasefire, Palestinian Information Center reported.

At the same time, Israeli forces opened heavy fire east of Khan Yunis and Rafah in the south of the Gaza Strip, according to local media.

While Al-Arabiya correspondent explained that this is the first violation of the truce, stressing that the Israeli forces also opened fire in  Al-Shati camp in the northern Gaza Strip, and Sheikh Radwan neighborhood, in addition to smoke bombs.

The correspondent also pointed out that some displaced people from the south had returned to those areas in the north during the last days of the truce.

Hamas confirmed on Monday that it had reached an agreement with Qatar and Egypt to prolong the temporary humanitarian truce that began last Friday and expired today for two more days, “under the same previous conditions.”

The four-day temporary ceasefire between Israel and Palestinian factions in the Gaza Strip resulted in the release of 68 Israeli prisoners as well as workers of other nationalities in exchange for 150 Palestinian women and children who had been held in Israeli prisons for months or years.
