Germany’s April exports to non-EU nations rise 4.4% – Destatis

German exports to non-EU nations surged by 4.4 per cent year-on-year to 62.1 billion euros ($67.2 billion) in April, as reported by the Federal Statistical Office (Destatis) on Thursday.

The United States maintained its position as the top customer, importing goods worth 14.6 billion euros, marking a notable growth of 22.3 per cent . The data also noted a 13.2 per cent increase in exports to China, totaling 8.8 billion euros.

However, the German Electro and Digital Industry Association revealed a 4.3 per cent decline in sector exports in Q1 2024. Despite this, exports to China, the largest single customer, saw a 7.4 per cent rise year-on-year.

Overall, Germany’s Q1 exports decreased by 1.1 per cent compared to the previous year, while imports experienced a significant 6.6 per cent decline, according to recent Destatis data.
