Global honey imports under the customs category No. (040900) fell to $2.3 billion in 2023 from $2.8 billion in 2022, with global honey production reaching around 2.1 million tons, a report from Egypt’s Food Export Council (FEC) showed on Monday.
China topped the list of the largest honey-exporting countries with a value of $254 million, accounting for 12 per cent of global exports. While, Egypt ranks 41st with only 0.3 per cent of global exports.
The World Trade Organisation has identified export opportunities for Egyptian companies in various markets, particularly in European Union (EU) countries and North America, over the next five years.
