Global Telecom Mulls Options to Divest Canada’s Wind Mobile

Global Telecom Holding (GTHE.CA), the Egypt-based group formerly called Orascom Telecom, said it is studying options to divest its stake in Canada’s Wind Mobile.

Available options include selling this investment or merging it into another company, GTH said in a statement on Monday, adding that it will duly announce any core events in this regard.

VimpelCom Ltd and GTH had announced earlier the signing of a share purchase agreement for the sale by GTH of a 51% interest in Orascom Telecom Algerie SpA (Djezzy) to the Fonds National d’Investissement (FNI), the Algerian National Investment Fund, for a purchase consideration of USD 2.643 billion.
