Hisham Ramez: Banks Operate Normally Today

Hisham Ramez, Governor of Central Bank of Egypt (CBE), said that the Egyptian banks will be operated normally on Thursday following General Abdel Fattah al-Sisi announced the suspension of the constitution and called for early presidential elections. Al- Sisi also named Adly Mansour, Chief Justice of Egypt’s Supreme Constitutional Court, interim president of Egypt.

Hisham Ramez assured that all banks will resume its activities tomorrow as usual and negate any information about disrupting the banks’ activities.

Yesterday according to Reuter,  CBE  informed  Egyptian Banks to close its branches early at 1:00 PM in order to avoid any potential clashes between Pro- and anti-president supporters inasmuch as the Army’s 48-hour deadline given to the country’s president Mohamed Morsi in order to respond to protesters was about to end.

Moreover, regarding banks’ closing time he pointed out ” we going to determine it day by day and we shall inform the banks the working hours on the morning”.
