Hong Kong Bourse Trading Hours Extended

Hong Kong’s stock market will be open for an extra half hour, effective Monday, extending daily trade to 5.5 hours in two continuous sessions separated by a 60-minute lunch break. Monday’s changes, which shorten the lunch break by 30 minutes, represent the second round of trading-hour changes announced by the Hong Kong Exchanges & Clearing Ltd. (HK:388) -1.26% (HKXCF) -2.29% in November 2010 intended to lengthen the daily trading time.

Under the amended schedule, Hong Kong afternoon trade will take place from 1 pm to 4 pm (12 am to 3 am U.S. Eastern Standard Time or 1 am to 4 am Eastern Daylight Savings Time), compared to the previous schedule of 1:30 pm to 4:00 pm. Data have been compiled by Market Watch News.
