Chinese telecom giant Huawei has joined forces with the Kenyan government to bolster the cybersecurity capabilities of the country’s workforce.
The partnership aims to protect the digital infrastructure used by both public and private sectors from potential cyber threats.
Senior government officials and Huawei executives emphasised the importance of cultivating skilled cybersecurity professionals to safeguard digital assets and ensure uninterrupted service delivery.
Raymond Omollo, the principal secretary in the Ministry of Interior and National Administration, highlighted the government’s commitment to leveraging the Huawei-sponsored training programme to enhance cybersecurity measures.
The cybersecurity training programme, funded by Huawei in collaboration with state institutions, is targeting information and communications technology personnel in government agencies, various industries, and educational institutions.
Omollo acknowledged the growing number of cyber threats in Kenya, driven by the expansion of the digital economy and increased adoption of online services.
