IBM eyes Doubled Employees in Egypt

The American multinational technology and consulting corporation IBM is planning to double the number of employees in its Egyptian office, chairwoman and CEO Virginia Rometty announced.

This comes after Rometty had taken part in a workshop with Egyptian Minister of Communications and Information Technology Atef Helmy held on Tuesday at the Egyptian cabinet’s headquarters.

The workshop was also attended with Egyptian ministers of electricity, supply, social solidarity, and scientific research alongside a representative from the finance ministry as well as leaders and representatives for international affairs services, sales, and systems participated in the workshop.

Rometty also referred that IBM’s volume of investments in Egypt reached US$3 billion amid willingness to cooperate in Egyptian’s national giant projects through providing various technological solutions.

IBM has also plans to inaugurate a new centre in Egypt to export services to African markets, she noted.

From his part, Egyptian minister Helmy had asserted that IBM plays an important role in Egyptian market in all fields hoping IBM’s investments to be increased within the upcoming period.

The Egyptian minister also expressed his wish to expand partnership base with IBM – as it has prominent location and highly trained staffs- and activate more cooperation in supporting large projects that Egypt launches notably New Suez Canal project.
