In photos: Egypt receives seriously injured Palestinians from Gaza

The first group of seriously injured Palestinians from the war-stricken Gaza Strip have entered Egypt on Wednesday in ambulances through the Rafah border crossing.

The move followed an announcement by the Palestinian border authority that said 81 seriously injured Gazans in additional dual citizens, and foreigners would be allowed to enter Egypt under a deal brokered by Qatar.

At least 400 foreign nationals are enabled to cross into Egypt.

The first evacuation of foreign nationals and Palestinians comes as Gaza is once again experiencing a total communications blackout. The Israeli occupation enforced a complete communications blackout across Gaza two days beginning last Friday, leaving the besieged territory’s 2.3 million people cut off from the world and stalling delivery of critical international relief supplies. The latest disruption of phone and internet service took place hours after a deadly Israeli bombing of Gaza’s largest refugee camp in the northern Gazan city of Jabaliya killed and injured hundreds of people, mostly women and children, while three foreign passport holders were killed in the airstrike.

The Israeli airstrikes have led to an unprecedented humanitarian crisis in besieged city of Gaza.
