India to remove 20% export duty on onions from Apr. 1

The Indian government announced on Saturday that it will eliminate a 20 per cent duty on onion exports beginning April 1.

After almost five months of export restrictions, including minimum export prices and bans, a 20 per cent export duty was in place since Sept. 13, 2024, to secure domestic availability.
