India’s infrastructure output grew 4.3 per cent year-on-year in November, supported by robust construction activity, according to government data released on Tuesday. This marks an improvement from October’s revised growth of 3.7 per cent.
Cement production surged 13 per cent in November, up from a 3.1 per cent rise in October, while steel output increased 4.8 per cent, slightly below the previous month’s revised growth of 5.2 per cent. Coal production rose 7.5 per cent compared to a 7.8 per cent increase in October, and refinery output grew 2.9 per cent, down from 5.2 per cent the prior month.
Electricity generation climbed 3.8 per cent in November, following a 2 per cent rise in October. Fertiliser output saw a 2 per cent increase, improving from 0.4 per cent growth in the previous month. However, crude oil and natural gas production declined by 2.1 per cent and 1.9 per cent, respectively, after sharper drops in October.
For the April-November period, infrastructure output expanded 4.2 per cent, down from an 8.7 per cent growth during the same period last year.
