Israel tells Chevron to shut down Tamar gas field

Chevron said on Monday that it had been instructed by Israel’s energy ministry to shut down the Tamar natural gas field off northern coast.

Tamar natural gas field is about 12 miles from the Gaza Strip.

It is not the first time for Chevron to suspend operations on the field. The U.S. company shut the field in 2021 during fighting.

“Chevron Mediterranean Limited was instructed by Israel’s Ministry of Energy to shut in production at the Tamar Production Platform,” the company’s statement read.
