Italian imports to Egypt reach €2bn in 8 months: embassy

The total volume of Egypt’s imports from Italy rose by 3 percent to €2 billion in January-August 2016.

Head of Economic and Commercial Department at the Italian Embassy in Cairo, Pietro Tombaccini stated Tuesday that the trade volume between Egypt and Italy is positive since Italy is Egypt’s eighth largest trade partner.

He made these remarks on the sidelines of a conference held by Italian Chamber of Commerce-Egypt (CCI-Egypt) to prepare for Milano World Food Exhibition- Tuttofood.

Egypt-Italy trade exchange recorded around €5 billion, Tombaccini pointed out, adding that the number of Italian firms working in Egypt does not exceed 600 approximately.

Egypt is a prominent market that enjoys massive investments opportunities through which Italian firms could boost their investments within the upcoming period, head Tombaccini clarified.
