ITIDA, Majid Al Futtaim to establish tech outsourcing services centre in Egypt

The Information Technology Industry Development Agency (ITIDA), part of the Egyptian Ministry of Communications, has signed an agreement on Monday with Majid Al Futtaim (MAF) Group’s tech unit to jointly build a tech outsourcing service centre.

The Business Process Outsourcing (BPO) centre will be the first of its kind for Al Futtaim Group. It aims to provide BPO and shared services to clients around the world from its centre in Egypt.

Under the three-year agreement, MAF’s Majid Al Futtaim Global Solutions will hire more than 600 high-skilled Egyptian specialists to provide services in fields including finance, human resources, marketing, and CIT.

Egyptian Minister of Communications and Information Technology Amr Talaat has witnessed the signing.

Amr Mahfouz, ITIDA chief executive, said MAF’s decision to choose to invest in Egypt to perform its BPO operations reflects the country’s great appeal as a favourable destination for shared services and specialised global service centres, according to a ministry statement.

The decision also enhances the country’s standing as one of the top countries with the highest growth rates of BPO and offshoring services, he added.
