The Information Technology Industry Development Agency (ITIDA), part of the Egyptian Ministry of Communications, has released a new report highlighting the most in-demand jobs in Egypt’s ICT and offshoring sector.

Drawing insights from the latest two ITIDA Employment Fairs (IEF), which witnessed a wide participation from nearly 125 local and multinational companies between October 2023 and March 2024, the data reveals key trends shaping the Egyptian job market.

Software Development leads

Over 58 per cent of the 3,200 IT job openings at recent ITIDA Employment Fairs were in software development (full-stack developers, testers, cloud engineers).

IT Management and AI/Data Science on the Rise

Both sectors hold significant promise, with each accounting for 9 per cent of available opportunities.

Demand for Diverse Skills

IT infrastructure (7.5 per cent), information security (4.4 per cent), data analysis (3.7 per cent), and digital arts (3.2 per cent) all offer promising career paths.

Multilingual Call Centres Needed

English (49 per cent), German (23 per cent), French (14 per cent), and Italian (13 per cent) are the most sought-after languages for call centers and business process outsourcing.

ITIDA Promotes Inclusivity

Ahmed ELZaher, CEO of ITIDA,

ITIDA CEO Ahmed ELZaher said opportunities in the IT sector extend beyond Engineering and Computer Science graduates, stressing inclusivity and diversity in hiring practices. He emphasised the vast opportunities within Egypt’s ICT sector and ITIDA’s commitment to fostering connections between young talent and industry players.

“Doubling Egypt’s digital exports signifies a strategic priority in ITIDA’s agenda,” ELZaher added, noting that the offshoring industry in Egypt achieved a growth rate of 54 per cent last year, driven by the entry of new multinational companies and the expansion of existing businesses in the Egyptian market.

ITIDA’s Employment Fair (IEF) is a job fair focused on connecting young Egyptians with Information and Communication Technology (ICT) careers. It offers:

  • Job opportunities: IEF connects students and graduates with companies looking for ICT specialists.
  • Career awareness: The fair raises awareness about the various ICT jobs available in Egypt.
  • Professional development: IEF provides resources and opportunities for attendees to learn and grow in their careers.
  • Networking: The fair allows job seekers to interact directly with potential employers.

Overall, the IEF aims to bridge the gap between talented Egyptians and the booming IT sector in the country.
