Jordan is set to establish a Special Free Zone in Al-Azraq, dedicated to the storage and maintenance of equipment for petroleum, gas, and mining operations.
The agreement, formalised by Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources Saleh Kharabsheh and Minister of Investment Khulood Al-Sakkaf, spans 30 years. The Ministry of Energy will oversee the development and management of the zone, including the construction of necessary infrastructure. The free zone is expected to begin accommodating companies within three months, creating job opportunities and allowing for future service expansion.
According to the Jordan Press Agency (Petra), the move aligns with Jordan’s investment strategy – in accordance with the 2022 Investment Environment Law – which aims to enhance the oil, gas, and mining sectors both domestically and in the region.
