Jordan’s national agricultural exports reached JD500 million by the end of May, marking a 25.3 per cent increase compared to the same period in 2023. Agriculture Minister Khaled Hunaifat announced that fruit and vegetable exports rose 22.3 per cent to JD125.5 million, driven by a 32 per cent increase in total exports to 178,000 tons.
Vegetable exports grew by 19 per cent, with quantities rising 27 per cent to 130,000 tons. Fruit exports saw a 29.5 per cent increase in value, with quantities up 48 per cent to 48,000 tons.
Live animal exports soared to JD44.2 million, a 259 per cent increase, due to a 260 per cent rise in live sheep exports, totaling 220,000 heads.
These figures highlight significant growth in Jordan’s agricultural sector, fueled by enhanced export performance and increased international demand.
