King Charles III nationalises railways

King Charles III revealed plans to nationalise the UK’s railways at the State Opening of Parliament on Wednesday.

The new public entity, Great British Railways (GBR), will oversee the rail network and empower English councils with new authorities to franchise local bus services.

“My ministers will bring forward legislation to improve the railways by reforming rail franchising, establishing Great British Railways, and bringing train operators into public ownership,” stated the King.
