Man Shot Dead After Attempt To Infiltrate Suez Military Installation

A young man in his 20s was shot dead Saturday during an attempt to sneak into a military installation in Suez, reported Al-Ahram Arabic news website.

Guards in front of “an important military location,” as described by Al-Ahram, chased a group of infiltrators, ending in the death of one of them.

The slain was shot in the head.

Military locations in Egypt are traditionally marked by “no approach or photography” signs.

At least 51 supporters of deposed president Mohamed Morsi were killed in July 2013 after allegedly attacking the Republican Guard headquarters where Morsi was believed to be held.

Militant attacks targeting police and military have been commonplace since the army’s ouster of Morsi last summer amid mass protests against his year-long rule.

Militants say their attacks are revenge against a crackdown waged by authorities against Morsi’s Islamist supporters that has killed hundreds and jailed thousands of others.
