Misr Insurance: EGP 22.8 Mln Compensations For Stolen Vehicles in Q1

Misr Insurance Company allocated compensation of EGP 22.8 million for stolen vehicles in Q1 of FY 2012/2013., said Ahmed Aboul Enein, head of Motor Insurance Sector at the company.

Such compensations were allocated for 335 vehicles stolen in this period, raising the number of stolen vehicles, insured by Misr Insurance, to 2067 ones for the period from the start of the revolution till now, he added.

About EGP 8 million of compensations were allocated for 123 vehicles that were stolen last September, compared to EGP 6.5 million of compensations were allocated for 97 stolen vehicles in August, and EGP 8.3 million of compensations were allocated for 115 stolen vehicles in July.

The value of the compensations is decided upon the value of the stolen vehicles, he noted. Misr Insurance Company recovered about 30 vehicles of the stolen ones in the last period, he added.

The average rate of stolen vehicles is 100 vehicles monthly. Aboul Enein noted that the highways in Egypt became more secure than before, but the rate of theft of taxis by coercion is still high.
