Morsi Suggests Establishing an Egyptian Conterpart to the Chinese Technological Valley

During his meeting with Chinese officials in Beijing, President Mohamed Morsi  discussed technology transfer, given its importance in turning the Egyptian economy from a reverse to knowledge  economy with added value, Presidential spokesman Dr.Yasser Ali said, highlighting that Egypt needs support from other countries concerning its political agenda.

Yasser Ali added that Dr. Morsi has visited the advanced technological valley project in China and suggested establishing a similar project in Egypt for transferring communications technology, nonotechnology, and genetic engineering technology.

With regard to peaceful use of nuclear energy, the spokesman explained that Dr. Morsi has listened to the suggestions presented by a number of Egyptian businessmen who accompanied him to China concerning developing renewable energy which needs huge investments and localizing the technology required for generating solar and wind energy whether in Zafarana of elsewhere. He added that they have not set up a project, but they will consider this issue very soon.

In his speech to  the Non-Aligned Movement, President Mohamed Morsi ,  asked for  removing weapons of mass destruction from the Middle East, while ensuring the rights of all countries to peacefully use nuclear energy, Yasser said. He added that Egypt will take into consideration the national decision, including economic and technical issues, in addition to considering the available alternatives without any limitations.

On the other hand, Minister of Industry suggested setting specifications for the goods imported by Egypt from China or other countries in order to secure the interest of the  Egyptian consumer, the spokesman noted.
