MSMEDA expands support for entrepreneurs during Ramadan

Egypt’s Medium, Small, and Micro Enterprise Development Agency (MSMEDA) is ramping up efforts to support entrepreneurs and small business owners during Ramadan, with a series of initiatives aimed at strengthening their capabilities and market opportunities, as per a Cabinet statement on Wednesday.

CEO of MSMEDA Basil Rahmi stated that the agency’s branches across the country are intensifying their services, ensuring that small business owners receive the best possible support from a team of trained professionals. The initiatives include new programmes designed to empower entrepreneurs and facilitate business operations.

As part of these efforts, MSMEDA is establishing 37 committees across various governorates this month to streamline the legalisation process for businesses. These committees are expected to accelerate the integration of more enterprises into the formal economy, allowing them to benefit from incentives under Law 152/2020. The agency is also offering technical and administrative assistance to entrepreneurs, helping them complete the necessary legal documentation.

Since July 2014, MSMEDA has issued 19,804 final and temporary legalisation licenses, along with 110,137 final small enterprise licenses, through its one-stop-shop units in governorate offices. These units aim to simplify business registration and operational procedures.

In addition to these measures, MSMEDA’s regional offices are hosting interactive seminars in Egyptian universities and technical schools to introduce students to entrepreneurship. These events provide young people with the skills and knowledge needed to turn their ideas into successful businesses. The agency is also continuing its participation in Ahlan Ramadan exhibitions across the country.

Rahmi encouraged aspiring entrepreneurs to take advantage of MSMEDA’s training programs and resources, reaffirming the agency’s commitment to supporting small businesses as a key driver of Egypt’s economic growth.
