On Ongoing Turmoil, Egypt Central Bank Says to Halt Activities Tomorrow

Egypt’s Central Bank (CBE) will suspend banking activities on Thursday August 15th driven by the ongoing unrest amid clearing out Cairo two major camps that support the deposed president Mohamed Morsi.

The central bank further said the banks shall resume their businesses next Sunday August 18th.

It is worth noting that the central bank has told banks to close their branches early today driven by the ongoing unrest as local security forces announced the beginning to disperse pro-morsi protest camps in Cairo.

Banks in Egypt have shut down their branches at 12:00 p.m. (10:00 GMT) instead of the usual 5:00 p.m
