Palestinian child turns olive residue into fuel amid energy crisis

Due to the Israeli siege cuts off fuel access to Gaza, Palestinian Nader Keshta recycled olive mill wastes as an alternative solution for energy crisis, according to the Arab World Press reported on Monday.

The litter caused by the grinding of olive beads is known for being highly flammable for extended periods of time. It also provides heat ranging from 30 to 100 degrees Celsius, the statement mentioned.

“We go to olive pressing spots and gather the residue, which we use later to make around 2,000 molds,” Keshta told AWP in an interview.

Since 11 October, the Gaza Strip has been under an electricity blackout, after the Israeli authorities cut off the electricity supply, and fuel reserves for Gaza’s sole power plant depleted.
