Police Detain Eight Turkish Citizens In Egypt

Police detained eight Turkish citizens in Egypt’s northeastern city Port Said Wednesday during a search of their yacht that was crossing over the Suez Canal, Egyptian official sources said.

The authorities said the Turks were taken into custody when 348 rifle cartridges were found aboard the yacht, which was on its way to the Jeddah Port in Saudi Arabia.

Deputy Prosecutor of Port Said Moustafa Ubade ordered a four-day detention of the Turkish citizens, whose identities were not released.

The Turkish embassy in Cairo said they had no information to share about the incident.
