One protester was killed Friday afternoon during protests by supporters of Egypt’s deposed Islamist president Mohamed Morsi in Cairo, a security source told Ahram Online.
The protester died of a gunshot wound to the neck when several thousand Morsi supporters clashed with police and civilians in Alf Maskan in the district of Ain Shams in northeastern Cairo, the source added.
Islamists staged protests in the capital Cairo and several governorates on Friday despite a relentless crackdown campaign by authorities that has left hundreds dead and several thousand in detention since Morsi’s ouster.
