Putin says war was for Russia’s survival
Russian president Vladimir Putin presented on Sunday war as an inevitable decision Russia had to take in order to protect the state and its people.
“In today’s conditions, when all the leading NATO countries have declared their main goal as inflicting a strategic defeat on us, so that our people suffer as they say, how can we ignore their nuclear capabilities in these conditions?,” Putin stated.
Putin said the main goal of NATO and Western alliance is to break Russia, control the largest raw materials’ producer in the world, and destructing the ethnic Russian majority.
The United States denied it aims at destroying Russia, as it merely supporting Ukraine defend itself in a conflict it did not start.
Putin also referred to American and European financial assistance signalling an alliance with NATO against Russia. President Joe Biden warned a conflict with NATO may result in a third World War.
Ukraine has suspended a nuclear arms control treaty; with the Russian president stating Russia would only get back to discussions table when French and British nuclear weapons are also taken into consideration.
