Ramses and the Gold of the Pharaohs exhibition to open in Sydney

The Ramses and the Gold of the Pharaohs exhibition is set to open its doors in Sydney, Australia, starting 18 November, said ministry of tourism on Monday.

This will mark the exhibition’s fourth stop, according to a press conference held at the National Museum of Egyptian Civilization (NMEC).

Up until this point, around 100,000 tickets were sold.

The Australian Museum is hosting the exhibition in its stop in the country starting 18 November to May 19 2024.

The exhibition displays the coffin of Ramses II, one of the most impressive royal coffins discovered in ancient Egypt.

It will also display a number of rare artefact on loan to the museum.

Ramses’ coffin is usually not permitted to leave Egypt, and Sydney will be the second city in the world to display it ,after Paris.

The Deir El-Bahari royal mummies cache was discovered in 1881, unravelling a history of ancient Egyptian kings and queens that were nothing but stories and tales.

Ramses II is one of the most prominent ancient Egyptian kings for the architectural monuments he built.

These include the monumental structures in Luxor and Karnak temples, the great funerary Ramesseum temple, and Abu Simbel temples.

He is also known for having built the most enchanting tomb for his wife Nefertari.
