Egyptian-Romanian Trade Exchange Reaches $500 mln In 2012

Mr. Hassan El Shafie, Chairman of the Egypt-Romania Business Council, said the volume of trade exchange between Egypt and Romania amounted to $ 412 million in 2011; expecting that the trade exchange reaches $ 500 million by the end of 2012.

There is a tendency for importing wheat from Romania in return for increasing the rice export; especially after allowing the export of the Egyptian rice, in order to increase the trade exchange between the two countries, El Shafie added.

He asserted that the volume of the joint investments between the two countries is tenuous and doesn’t suit the capabilities of Egypt and Romania; elucidating that the Romanian investments volume in Egypt extremely weak. Therefore, there will be an invitation for the businessmen of the Romanian side to visit Egypt next year, so as to take up boosting the Romanian investments volume in Egyptian market.
