Russian delegation discusses military cooperation with Egypt

A Russian military delegation headed by Alexander Fomin, Director of the Federal Service for Military-Technical Cooperation, discussed military cooperation with Egyptian officials on Friday.

The delegation, which departs for Cyprus on Saturday after a two day visit, discussed ways of increasing cooperation between Egypt and Russia in terms of joint training, armament and manufacturing capabilities.

Egypt’s minister of military production Mohamed El-Assar visited Russia in March, heading a high-level delegation, to discuss cooperation with Russia.

Egypt and Russia have been partners in coordinating the fight against terrorism and have signed a number of related agreements over the last year, including a deal in November 2015 to build a nuclear power plant in Egypt and another in December 2015 to supply Egypt with 46 military helicopters.
