Saint-Gobain establishing €160m glass plant in Egypt

Egypt’s General Authority for Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZone) and Saint-Gobain Glass Egypt signed €160 million ($173.2 million) investment deal to establish a state-of-the-art flat glass manufacturing facility, the Cabinet announced.

The manufacturing facility will be located in the Sokhna Integrated Industrial Zone, spanning over 200,000 square metres, injecting an investment of €160 million in the first five years, according to the statement.

The project, in partnership with French companies, aims to export over 50 per cent of its products globally while meeting local market demands and creating job opportunities.

This partnership aims to support the authority in developing and managing investments within the SCZone to promote sustainable development and turn it into a key economic hub.

Saint-Gobain already operates two factories for glass and mirror production in the Sokhna Integrated Industrial Zone.
