Salim: Finalizing Procedures of “Money Transfer via Mobiles”

Dr. Mohamed Salim – Minister of Communications and Information Technology- assured the finalization of all technical and legislative procedures, regarding the license of “Transferring Money via Mobile Phones” during this month.

The Minister added that these procedures were conducted, after considering the Central Bank’s notifications related to some points of the service, and also after confirming that systems of this new service are in of commission.

Salim mentioned – in exclusive statements to Amwal Al Ghad- a recent meeting with Dr. Farouk El Okda – Central Bank’s Governor- as they discussed the determination of the lunching date of the service, as he clarified that the service should be activated in a few months, after restoring the security situations.

He also mentioned that the ministry is studying currently the determination of the new service mechanisms, with the National Telecom Regulatory Authority “NTRA”, as they aim at defining the addressed authorities, which will be responsible of controlling the transfers, in cooperation with the Central Bank.
