Sandy winds hit Egypt Wednesday, rain Thursday

Sandy winds increastoday, with a chance of sandstorms in some areas in Egypt, state agency MENA reported on Tuesday.

The country’s meteorological authority chief Ahmed Abdel-Aal told MENA that the country will see weather instability starting Wednesday, with an increase in temperatures from two to three degrees and sandstorms that could lead to a lack of visibility on desert highways and a disturbance in maritime navigation.

Residents of Cairo and Nile Delta governorates and central Egypt see temperatures of 24-26 degrees Celsius, while southern Sinai will see temperatures of 25 to 26 degrees and southern mainland Egypt will be around 29 to 30 degrees.

Abdel-Aal said that the country would then see a 2-3 degree drop in temperatures on Thursday with a buildup of rain clouds in Cairo, on the north coast, in the Nile Delta, in central Egypt, and in southern Sinai.

Saturday and Sunday also saw sandstorms and rainfall, both typical for this time of year.
