Shares in Egypt close 0.7% higher

Stocks in Egypt have ended higher on Monday backed by foreign investors’ buying appetite. Main index, EGX30 edged up 0.72 percent, to 7517.78 points.

Other indices; EGX50 EWI index also rose 0.82 percent, at 1343.22 points; while EGX20 picked up 1.07 percent, to 7860.28 points.

Mid- and small-cap index EGX70 added 0.33 percent, to 359.55 points. Price index, EGX100 also rose 0.38 percent, to 767.51 points.

Market Cap

Market capitalisation posted gains worth 2.6 billion Egyptian pounds ($292.8 million), to record 402.324 billion pounds during the closing session of Monday.

Turnovers

The bourse’s trading volume reached 129.542 million securities, with turnovers, closing at 518.781 million pounds, exchanged through 17,011 transactions.

Also during the closing session, 165 listed securities have been traded in, 29 declined, 86 advanced; while 48 kept their previous levels.

Investors’ Activities

Arab and non-Arab foreign investors were net buyers controlling 6.73 and 18.97 percent respectively of the total markets, with a net equity of 32.462 million pounds and 27.390 million pounds, respectively, excluding the deals.

On the contrary, local investors were net sellers capturing 74.3 percent of the total market, with a net equity of 59.852 million pounds, excluding the deals.
