Sisi directs efforts to support heavy industries

Egyptian President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi directed on Saturday continued efforts to create a supportive environment for the heavy industries, including the iron and steel industry.

al-Sisi’s remarks were made in a meeting with General Ahmed El-Shazly, Chairperson of the Armed Forces Financial Affairs Authority, and General Walid Abu El-Magd, director general of the National Service Projects Organization (NSPO).

Also in the meeting was Major General Imad El-Kayal, the Chairperson of the Egyptian Steel Company.

The spokesperson of the Egyptian presidency, Ahmed Fahmy, said the meeting included follow-up projects related to the iron and steel industry in Egypt.

This is part of Egypt’s plan to develop the heavy and strategic industrial manufacturing system.

Also discussed in the meeting was a review of efforts to deepen local manufacturing, enhance competitiveness and export capacities, as well as overcome related logistical constraints.

The president highlighted the vital role of heavy industries in the development movement now in all sectors across the country, and its contribution to reducing the pressure on foreign currency.

al-Sisi also directed authorities to take all necessary measures to support the development of heavy industries in Egypt. This will include providing them with the necessary financing and infrastructure.
