Sisi looks proudly forward to COP27 opening

President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi said “with pride and honour of responsibility I look forward to the opening of UN climate conference COP27 in Sharm El Sheikh,” according to his statement on Facebook.

Egypt is expected that parties will make decisions that support the rapid implementation of real climate action, and looking forward to attain outcomes of the Glasgow Summit and the Paris Agreement.

al-Sisi further added the current climate summit session comes during a sensitive time, where the world is exposed to existential dangers and unprecedented challenges that affect the survival of the planet and the ability to live on it.

These threats and challenges undoubtedly require rapid action by all countries to develop a road map for rescue that protects the world from the effects of climate change, the statement mentioned.

al-Sisi has gradually sought to bring Egypt back to the world stage, promising a development-focused new era for the country despite continuing economic headwinds.
