Sisi urges debt relief for countries under high food prices, import bills pressures

Egypt’s President Abdel Fattah al-Sisi called on Friday for debt relief for the developing countries, which suffering from high food prices and energy import bills, this came during his remarks in the first Arab-Chinese summit held in Riyadh.

He also noted that this crisis along with its consequences is a main motive to strengthen the Arab-Chinese partnership to face global challenge by enhancing multilateral cooperation.

This partnership will develop a rapid international response to meet developing countries’ needs in transferring and developing the technology, capacity-building, improving the infrastructure in rural areas, transfer of sustainable agricultural technology and modern irrigation systems.

al-Sisi considers the Arab-Chinese Summit as a new start for economic cooperation between the Arab world and China, noting that the Arab-Chinese cooperation and opportunities for its development are not limited to the economic but also political divide.

The Chinese president stressed that 200 projects have been implemented between the two sides as part of the Belt and Road initiative.
