Six contractors to execute biggest park project in Egypt new capital

Egypt’s six construction firms won mandates to carry out the biggest commercial and entertainment park project in the new administrative capital an official source in one of these firms said on Monday.

Egypt’s Ministry of Housing has assigned Arab Contractors, Hassan Allam, Orascom Construction, Redcon Construction, El Rowad, and Al-Marasem International for Development to implement the first phase of the project, dubbed as The Green River, within a maximum of two years.

“The first phase will include a number of infrastructure and road works besides landscapes and gardens,” he said, adding that the second phase is to feature a bunch of cinemas, cafes, restaurants, and major hotels.

The Green River is with a built-up area ranging between 7 percent and 10 percent.

Egyptian Prime Minister Moustafa Madbouly earlier said all the new capital’s 20 neighborhoods will be linked to The Green River, which is meant to mimic the Nile River situated in the middle of Cairo.
