Slovenia to Cooperate in Egypt’s Global Logistics Centre Project

Slovenia has offered to form an alliance with Egypt with the aim of investing in the latter’s global logistics centre project, Egyptian supply minister Khaled Hanafy said on Sunday.

The project will be with estimated investments at 15 billion Egyptian pounds (US$2.1 billion). Damietta has been identified as the initial site for the logistics operations.

Hanafy further stated that Slovenia has offered, during a Sunday’s meeting, to supply Egypt with all the equipment and machinery required to establish modern storage facilities for grains at low costs.

The Egyptian minister met Sunday with Slovenia’s ambassador to Cairo Tanja Miškova alongside the economic attaché, with the presence of Ahmed Al Wakeel – the Chairman of the Federation of Egyptian Chambers of Commerce (FEDCOC) and Egyptian officials from the Supply Ministry.

The centre aims to transform Egypt into a hub for logistical, global storage, and will introduce global mechanisms for storing, handling and packaging grains and food commodities.
