Suez Shipyard Workers Threaten To Cut Off Electricity

A large number of Suez Shipyard Company’s workers, in their second day strike, threatened to cut off electricity on Port Tawfik district; this is after General Ahmed Fadel, the authority’s chairman, neglected their demands.

The workers called for increasing their salaries, and operating law 321/1971 which evens between the clerk and worker in the authority. They demanded stipulating equal rules in disturbing the administrative housing, and increasing the value of the shifts’ allowances, as well as cancelling the maximum limit for the jobs’ risks. The workers also called for operating the decision, which is to increase the salaries of 7 companies subordinated to Suez Canal, made by General Ahmed Fadel in April 2011 in attendance of the former minister of manpower, Ahmed Al-Baradei. Suez Shipyard Company is one of these companies, according to ONA news agency.
