Sustainable Development Requires Govt’s Consideration For Social Responsibility: Hatem Saleh

Engineer Hatem Saleh, Minister of Industry, has pointed out that the government and the private sector should give priority to the social responsibility issues so as to achieve the sustainable development; calling on all the institutions to bear the responsibility of their decisions, activities, products and services, in the framework of respecting law and behavior.

In addition to that, the minister pointed to the actual participation in the development for the community’s welfare. Supporting the society’s development shouldn’t be based on donations rather than establishing ventures, programs and activities that help promoting the society, providing job opportunities for individuals and qualifying them , in a way that achieve the social justice.

The social responsibility is one of the key pillars of the public and private sectors that contribute to treating the social and economic issues, which the society faces. The role of the institutions towards the social responsibility comes through providing job opportunities, eliminating unemployment and meeting the society’s vital needs.

This came during the minister’s keynote speech in the national forum to raise awareness of the community responsibility”, on behalf of Dr Hassan Abdel Meguid, Head of Egyptian Organization for Standardization and Quality.

The minister also referred to the necessity of the Standard Specifications’ role in supporting competitive capability for the national industry in different local and international markets, as well protecting the workers and consumers’ rights.
