Terry: My loyalty to Chelsea has paid dividends

Chelsea defender John Terry has expressed his delight in becoming the first captain to ever lift the FA Cup on four occasions for one club.

The 31-year-old was part of the Blues’ rearguard as they saw off a late Liverpool fight back to cling on to a 2-1 victory at Wembley.

And Terry believes that his allegiance to Chelsea during troubled times has finally paid off in the form of winning the domestic trophy and reaching this year’s Champions League final in Munich.

He told Sky Sports: ‘It’s an incredible achievement and my loyalty to Chelsea has paid dividends.

‘It is a great club and I am fortunate to be the captain of a very good team.’

Looking ahead to May 19 clash with Bayern Munich, Terry admitted he is confident his side can snatch a win out in Bavaria, citing the winning momentum garnered from Saturday’s victory.

He continued: ‘I think it is perfect. We will sit back and see how the league pans out but now we have two weeks good preparation before the Champions League final, but the momentum we can take from this and the courage from people writing us off, questioning our togetherness and form, it is great.

‘We have got a tough job ahead, but this can help and the form we are in at the moment.’
