Trump sends a fresh $10 mln to his campaign

Donald Trump wired an additional $10 million to his campaign Friday, a day after it was revealed that he gave only $30,000 toward his $100 million pledge in early October.

The campaign will use the cash to boost its television and digital presence and its ground game in the final push to election day, NBC News reported, citing a senior advisor. Dow Jones added that the campaign would use the cash for ads in “key battleground states.”

The contribution was later confirmed by a filing with the Federal Election Commission.

The contribution brings Trump’s total personal spending on his campaign to about $66 million. Trump has repeatedly claimed he will have given $100 million to his campaign by Election Day, which leaves him about $34 million short of that goal.

Trump did not guarantee he would reach $100 million in spending Friday, telling Fox News that “we’ll see what’s needed.”

Trump trails rival Hillary Clinton in most recent national polls and in many swing state surveys, but some data in recent days has been more favorable to him. His campaign may need more cash in the final push to make up that ground, as it had only $16 million on hand as of Oct. 20.
