Turkey seizes lion’s share of Egypt chemicals, fertilizers exports

Turkey has captured 16% of Egypt’s exports of chemicals and fertilizers within the first eight months of 2015.

According to the report issued by the General Organization for Export and Import Control (GOEIC) Tuesday, Turkey was the largest importer of Egyptian chemicals that obtained exports worth 2.3 billion Egyptian pounds (US$293.8 million).

The report stated that Egyptian exports of chemicals and fertilizers have declined by 30% from January-August 2015 to reach 14.2 billion pounds compared to 20.2 billion pounds at the same period of 2014.

Following Turkey, Saudi Arabia was the second largest importer of Egyptian chemicals and fertilizers at the end of August 2015 getting products estimated at 980 million pounds.

The third largest importer was France that imported Egyptian chemicals worth 653 million pounds then Italy whose imports are estimated at 597 million pounds and Belgium that imported Egyptian chemicals worth 590 million pounds.
