Turkey’s Eroglu lays foundation of $51m project in Egypt’s Qantara West

The Suez Canal Economic Zone (SCZONE) marked a significant milestone with the foundation stone ceremony for the Eroglu Egypt’s Ready-Made Garment Project in Qantara West Industrial Zone on Wednesday. The project, in partnership with Turkey’s Eroglu Holding Company, represents a $51 million investment upon completion and will span 84,200 square kilometres. Once operational, it is expected to create approximately 5,000 jobs.

The foundation stone-laying event was attended by SCZONE Chairman Waleid Gamal El-Dien, alongside Governor of Ismailia, Akram Galal and Turkish Ambassador to Egypt Salih Mutlu Şen.

Boosting Industrial Investment

“This project reflects the success of the ongoing partnership with the private sector…,” SCZONE Chairman Gamal El-Dien said.

It “represents a direct translation of the promotional efforts SCZONE exerted during the past two years, which aimed to attract investments from major international companies in the sectors targeted for localisation according to SCZONE’s strategy.”

Gamal El-Dien also noted that Qantara West has launched three major projects in just four months, underscoring its strategic importance.

Eroglu’s Global Footprint Expands in Egypt

Eroglu Holding Chairman Sahin Eroglu praised the partnership, emphasising the factory’s role in strengthening economic ties between Egypt and Turkey.

The project supports Eroglu’s vision to increase ready-made garment production to 24 million pieces annually while maintaining its commitment to sustainability through clean energy and water recycling, Sahin added.

Eroglu Holding, which operates in 38 countries and employs 15,000 people, plans to expand its retail presence in Egypt from 15 to 100 stores over the next five years.

The Eroglu project solidifies Qantara West’s status as a rising industrial hub, thanks to SCZONE’s ongoing development and Egypt’s economic reforms. By integrating sustainable practices and fostering global partnerships, the zone aims to attract further investments and position itself as a leading industrial and logistics destination in the region.
