U.S. airports get $10 billion in government coronavirus aid

The U.S. Department of Transportation said on Tuesday $10 billion in grants are now available for airports as they are struggling with the coronavirus pandemic.
The pandemic has driven down the number of air travellers in the U.S. to levels not seen in decades after states issued stay-at-home orders in addition to other restrictions.
Airports can use the funds, which are part of the $2 trillion CARES Act passed by the Congress last month, for capital expenditures, payroll, utilities in addition to other operating costs and debt payments.
Airports make money mainly from airline fees, parking, retail, and other revenue streams.
