U.S. commits $3 billion to support Green Climate Fund at COP28

The United States has committed $3 billion to the Green Climate Fund, as Vice President Kamala Harris announced on Saturday at the U.N. COP28 summit in Dubai.

The fund, with pledges totaling over $20 billion, is the biggest global fund that helps developing countries with climate action.

The United States has previously contributed an additional $2 billion to the fund; this new commitment would come on top of that, as reported by Reuters.

The pledge is dependent on the presence of sufficient funds. However, the politically divided U.S. Congress must give its approval for the funds.
