Uber’s latest expansion had been to Mansoura last May.
“The expansion into Tanta and Damanhour ensures the presence of more job opportunities, supporting Uber’s vision in creating economic opportunities in other cities in Egypt through Uber technology,” the press release reads.
In 2017, Uber generated more than 150,000 job opportunities, of which 50 percent are part-time jobs, and logged four million rides.
“After the success of Uber in Mansoura, we have been on the look out for other expansion opportunities and finally rested on Tanta and Damanhour as we believe these two cities hold great potential in terms of offering job opportunities for drivers and providing a convenient and accessible transportation service for riders,” Uber General Manager Abdellatif Waked was quoted as saying in the release.
Uber is also operating in Cairo and Alexandria.
“We will continue to work towards our vision to complement and develop the transportation services in Egypt as we expand in different cities,” Waked added.
