URGENT: Singapore dissolves parlt.

Singapore dissolved its parliament on Tuesday ahead of a general election to be held within three months, according to a government gazette.
The upcoming vote will mark the first electoral test for Prime Minister Lawrence Wong, who succeeded long-time premier Lee Hsien Loong as leader of the People’s Action Party (PAP) in May 2024.
The PAP is expected to retain dominance and win most seats, continuing its unbroken streak since the country’s independence in 1965. However, analysts will closely monitor the party’s share of the popular vote after one of its weakest performances in the 2020 election.
The election comes as Singapore faces a gloomy economic outlook. US President Donald Trump’s tariffs are expected to weigh on the trade-reliant economy, which on Monday revised its 2025 growth forecast down to between 0 and 2 per cent, from an earlier range of 1 to 3 per cent.
