U.S. Bechtel to pump more investments in Egypt

U.S.-based Bechtel Corporation is keen to pump more new investments in the Egyptian market, David Welch -president of Europe, Africa, Middle East Region- said Sunday.

Welch asserted that the company is currently executing the civil works of oil and gas projects in Egypt  and aims at participating in more  projects.

Welch made these remarks during the meeting held with the Egyptian Prime Minister Sherif Ismail and Zaidun Jawdat -country manager at Bechtel Egypt S.A.E.- in the presence of Egyptian investment minister Ashraf Salman.

According to Cabinet spokesperson Hossam al-Qawish,  Welch added that Bechtel has experience of generating power whether by using traditional sources ,i.e. oil and coal, or by using new and renewable sources.

During the meeting, the Prime Minister emphasised on the procedures and efforts that Egypt exerts to encourage and attract more investments in all economic sector , al-Qawish stated.

Additionally, Ismail discussed the available investment opportunities within the upcoming period.

He noted that the government is following the procedures for the industrial zone in Suez Canal region that set to provide more investment opportunities for the international companies.

Ismail further affirmed that the petrochemical projects are vital for a number of products and other industries, the spokesperson clarified.

Bechtel Corporation is the largest construction and civil engineering company in the United States, ranking as the 4th-largest privately owned company in the United States.
